Lensbaby Does the Beach

I got a Lensbaby 2.0 lens just for fun a while ago and have been having a bit of fun with it, though it's a bit tricky to get used to at first. The blur effect isn't photoshopped, but done with the lens itself.

An odd toy, for sure, but is proving fun to play with. If you want to know more about these lenses you can read about Lensbabies here.

That is really cool - I love the way the blur accentuates the movement already in the photo.

Interesting effect. I'm not familiar with this lens; I'll have to check the web site. Have you ever used a shift lens? That's one we stumbled on by accident and have tried it on the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and other vertical structures, with mixed results (cause we don't really know how to use it).

Wow. I had no idea. Thanks for the link. I go now to learn.

That was one of the reasons that I was drawn to the lens. The effect can be pretty cool.

I only found out about these a few months ago. I inherited a shift lens from my father that he had for his Olympus OM-4. Unfortunately, I set it aside from the other lenses so that I could play with it and haven't been able to find it since. I look forward to stumbling across it sometime in the future. ;-)

I think that you'll get the hang of it once you play with it enough... it'll be helpful to have the instant feedback with digital. :-)

Glad that I could show someone something new. There's no shortage of photo toys out there to play with.

Oooh, I often want to create that effect but didn't know it could be done while photographing my subject. Thanks for the heads up.

Happy posting to you!
